It's been too long, but here's a picture of Polly the evening I finally got her back in the water last August. Phil Pritchett, on the right on the dock, blessed Polly before we splashed her. She has been happily sitting in her slip since then (except when I sail her) and has a brand new pair of adjustable jib-leads I'm going to try out this weekend.

Polly's Updated pre-commissioning Checklist

The story so far:
The end may be near. I marked off the tasks I've completed in the original checklist and updated the list of things still to be done. I have no hard commitments next weekend, and if the weather cooperates I hope to finish most of what remains by Saturday. However, the forecast is rain for the next three days, so painting may be delayed. It is raining today, so I am going to work on the swim ladder this evening and get that task out of the way. I sent a quote request to Sailing Services, Inc. for the standing rigging at lunch and hope to have the quote back this afternoon. Here is the updated list of things that still need to be done before I return Polly to her natural place in the water:
  • Paint hull and boot stripes
  • Replace standing rigging
  • Repair swim ladder
  • Reassemble outboard motor mount
  • Apply FL numbers to bow
  • Apply name to starboard quarter

Expected date of completion: 5 August 2006

Additional to-do items:

  • Fabricate adjusters for lower lifelines
  • Re-caulk and paint porthole exteriors; replace inner gaskets
